    Dear Friend,

Honestly, kidding aside. I felt so at home…Fabulous! I knew it from before that you’re a great poet; when my eyes caught a piece of paper with a few phrases and knew it was yours. Keep it up! You have so much brilliant words could share to the world of poetry so just keep on going.

Count me to be one of your followers!

    Kaching!!!

Nice pictures Rowan. Congratulations on the books of poetry! I am sure they were well received. Its nice to see creative people from the Peninsula. Just when I think I have given up, people like you constantly enforce my belief that our hometowns are able to support the creativity and personal expression of one’s art into myriad shapes, sizes and format. I salute the poet in you and kudos to a job well done.

Here’s an excerpt from Dorrance’s work during WW2. The rhythm is dated, the content old, but I feel it imparts the despair during that time. Here it goes:

    No cedars mark the spot,
    In faraway Bataan,
Where soldiers brave and fair and true,
    Fell before Japan.

    No cedars mark the spot!
    No chiseled stone their name!
They fought, they bled, they starved.—And hoped
    For help which never came!

The green growth of the jungle
    Is creeping o’er the spot
Where they fought, and bled, and starved, and died—
    The men whom men forgot.

    Oh God of hosts, almighty—
    God who created man—
    Remember them—whose graves are hid
    On faraway Bataan.
    ——– Dorrance

There’s much more to know about me and but also about you. But I will leave that until next time. For now, take care and I hope things are going well in the KSA. E-mail or leave me a note on friendster when and/if you can. Cheers!

    Ramon
